DJ Skeez is a dynamic presence in Detroit’s music scene, seamlessly blending her passions both on and off the decks. When she’s not day trading crypto, rehabbing neighborhood homes, tending to her bees, or sailing, she captivates audiences with her eclectic DJ sets, all while sporting her signature green hair and full-body tattoos.

It was 20 years ago when Skeez bought her first pair of turntables. Before that, her first job in the industry was in 1996 being a street team leader for Okayplayer (the Root’s online fan site,) and Detroit’s storied St. Andrews Hall, establishing her footing in Detroit’s hip-hop, electronic, and techno communities. As she built relationships in those music circles—she found her own voice through the 1s and 2s. 

Purpose and passion define Skeez and it’s evident in her work and in her vast music knowledge. A lifelong record collector & digger, her sets transcend genres from throwback 70’s disco, soul and funk to 80’s pop and hip-hop, to Dilla laced Detroit gems, to the hottest house releases and exclusives. She currently spins as a Saturday resident at Detroit's hottest new venue, Spotlite, as well as playing events at Marble Bar, SPKRBOX, TV Lounge and including downtown parks, galas, and private events in and around Detroit. 

She has thrown parties featuring legends - Moodymann, Rich Medina, Waajeed, Cosmo Baker, Tall Black Guy, Amp Fiddler & Dames Brown, Dwele, Kyle Hall, Terry Hunter, DJ Minx, Dajae, Stacy Hotwaxx, DJ Godfather, Nick Speed & Houseshoes  and played alongside Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig, Slum Village, Danny Brown, Phat Kat, Black Milk, Tank & The Bangas, Boo Williams, Chances With Wolves,  Ryan Leslie, Monica Blaire,  Guilty Simpson, Elzhi, Bahamadia, Rick Wilhite, Karizma, Kai Alce, Z*Trip & Dam Funk.

Skeez has also been a featured DJ on Trick Trick’s Shade45 show on Sirius Radio, where she showcased women and Detroit centric hip-hop  and she held down 2 featured showcases at SXSW in 2010. The diversity of her DJ work throughout the years has her equally comfortable rocking anything from roller rinks to clubs, late night afters to vinyl lounges, Burningman art cars to galas,  8 mile strip clubs to Moodymann’s legendary Memorial Day BBQ, a true Detroit badass on and off the decks.
